The Beni Ouarain carpet originates from Beni Ouarain, or also "Beni Warynne", whose name of the collective of 17 tribus berbères in the region of Aït Ouaraïn. These tribes who live in the Atlas Mountains.
This is in contrast to what some carpet dealers would say, as they think (wrongly) that the term "Beni Ourain" refers to the look, feel and / or texture of some Berber woven rugs.
Berber carpet is one of the styles the most interesting currently in production, and also one of the oldest. It was originally handwoven in North Africa thousands of years ago and is still popular today because of its distinctive style.
